So Ryan, tell us a little about yourself: where you are, where you’re from. You know the drill.
I’m in a non-descript warehouse a block from the beach in the middle of downtown Santa Barbara, pretty constantly either covered in dust or resin, depending on the day.
My surfing history consists of growing up desiring little more than to surf more than I could… I would go visit my grandparents for a few weeks every summer on Maui and surf/sponge with my dad, brother and uncle. Then I’d head back to Seattle, wishing I could keep surfing. My mom and I started going out to the Washington/Oregon coast for mini surf trips when I was about 13. The month after I graduated high school I packed up and moved to SB and within my first year here I was shaping a few boards for myself out of necessity; I was too poor to buy anyone else’s.
